If you look at the terms of service and agreement you probably agreed to without reading, you would see that anybody can have access. They just need to talk to the people at Facebook about it. They would gain full access to all of the pictures you are tagged in and all of your wall posts. So you might want to clean it up now before it affects you later.
Can bosses or college admissions access your facebook profile even if it is private?
It depends whether or not they have the technology or the human resources, or if they really want you as a student. If you are asking whether or not they CAN, the answer is yes, hackers do it all the time, but that does not guarantee that they WILL.
Reply:I am not sure. They might if they have interest in critically finding out something about you. But I am not so sure.
Reply:I didn't know Facebook profile could be put on "private."
Ethically, the Internet is the Internet. The internet was invented to send information quickly to distant places...even if its YOUR information. If you put it on the internet, someones going to see it. Even if you have it on private, hackers could get into it at any time and release info about you, send messages on your behalf, etc. And plus, the "Facebook Staff" randomly checks out profiles for any kind of reportable findings (verbal abuse).
Potential employers (and/or current ones) ethically do have the right to view anything published online about you. Although, it is unethical for them not to mention it to you. As for college admissions, I haven't heard much about them even trying to access personal profiles, but you should always be cautious about what you publish about yourself online.
If its not meant to be seen by other people, DON'T put it ANYWHERE on the Internet!
