What's your opinion of facebook pictures in general?

I'm in college.





I find that when I look at someone's facebook, the first thing I go to is their pictures so I can see what kind of person they are. Are they a party-person? What kind of people do they hang out with? I can even figure out what they do on an average weekend or what they've been doing/ where they've gone in recent weekends.





I can't help judging people because of their pictures, and I'm guessing thats what everyone does as well. So I changed my privacy settings so that no one on facebook except myself can see my pictures.





What are your thoughts about facebook pictures? I think people have too many and they're sharing too much about their lives to a lot of people they're only acquaintenced with.

well, I figure that it's people's decisions what they put on the internet. There's options so that everyone can see it, just friends can see it, or just them can see it.





Everyone judges people to some extent based on pictures, so you're not alone there.





So basically, I don't honestly care what people put up, because if I can see it, then they want me to see it to an extent if it's accessible to me.





But I DO hate the profile pics where couples are kissing each other......please.....that's so sappy and lame, and nobody else wants to see you kissing someone else every time they go to your page. period.
Reply:But wasn't that part of the point of facebook? Just don't add pics you want no one else to see. That's what I do.
Reply:Pictures is just that though: a way to share what's going on in your life, which is just an extension of what facebook pretty much is. just don't post pictures you don't want people to see and if your freinds are posting pictures of you doing stuff you don't want people to see then consider not doing the things you don't want people to see you doing. :)
Reply:Facebook was originally created as supposed to be a "online yearbook" based from the creators little sister. I know b/c I did a research paper on online communities.





One thing about online communities is that pictures is the only way to share any visual aids to anyone they want. Its either a pic or a vid, and pics are way easier to load.





Some people like myself post up most if not all our photos simply b/c its the easiest way to share photos to people instead of keeping it all to yourself and being selfish.





I have 300 albums with 50-60photos in each.


Its hard to make copies for people so this to me is the easiest way for people to share, copy, comment etc.
