What exactly is 6 degrees of separation?

It is the theory that any one person is connected to any other person by no more than six people. For example I am connected to George Bush (yuck) Since I know my father #1, who works with a guy #2, who knows a Senator Obama #3, who knows Bush #4. You can connect yourself to anyone this way.

What exactly is 6 degrees of separation?
It's the concept that there are only six relationships connecting everyone on the planet.

e.g. - your entire circle of contacts, their entire circle of contacts, their entire circle of contacts, their entire circle of contacts, their entire circle of contacts, and their entire circle of contacts
Reply:It's when you have to link two people by using movies or songs or other stuff like that. Haven't you ever heard of the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon?????
Reply:I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I believe it means that everyone in the world is connected in some way through 6 or less people.

it's hard to explain, but through all the people everyone knows, you could connect yourself to anyone in the world through ties of people you know, and they know, and THEY know, by only 6 or less people. No more.
Reply:Everyone you know is 1 degree of separation

from you. Everyone that they know, and you don't,

is 2 degrees of separation from you. Everyone in the world

is no more than 6 degrees of separation from

you.

This theory was proposed by the so-called "small

world experiment" by social psychologist

Stanley Milgram conducted 1967.
Reply:...it has to do with the probability of long minimal chains. Of course, the more people on earth, the more degrees of separation will be necessary. The number is so low because the mathematical law describing this phenomenon has a logarithmic growth (very very low)... which is sort of the opposite of exponential growth (very very fast). The law is probabilistic, in that it is possible to find a few cases where it doesn't hold (try to compute the degree of separation between one of those segregated little-buddha wannabes and some hermit pygmy.

I'm connected to George Bush in less than 6 step and George Clooney in 4 steps. And I live in Europe.
Reply:looks like the people sumed it up :)
Reply:It's referring to the theory that everyone knows everyone else within 6 jumps.

You know someone who knows someone who knows some, etc.

They have the Kevin Bacon Game where everyone knows Kevin Bacon. It was even spoofed on an episode of "Will and Grace."
Reply:Its a theory that your are connected to every person on the planet by no more than six degrees.
Reply:Each degree is a person. I am connected to Keanu Reeves because my husbands' friends' friend introduced him(husbands friend) to a girl that took him to event where he met Keanu. That's 5 degrees which means I am 6 degrees moved from everyone Keanu knows.

Can facebook transfer from high school to college?

I am a senior in high scool who is graduating this year. I have a high school facebook. I know for a fact, that the college I am attending supports facebook, but is there a way to transfer my high school profile to the college one? Or do I have to create a new facebook profile and start (with 0 friends) all over again?

Can facebook transfer from high school to college?
No, you do not have to create another one. On the top right corner, click on Account. Then click on the "Network" tab (between Settings and Notifications). You can join a college network from that page.
Reply:you can keep the same facebook acct. but edit the school that you will be attending after you get your college email address...

What are your 6 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon?

This game was developed by three college friends who went to Albright College (Reading, PA). They first appeared on the Jon Stewart show on MTV (his old show--not the daily show). It is based on the theory that Kevin Bacon is the center of the entertainment universe, and that any actor or actress can be linked back to him, typically within six degrees (six connections) (variations on this game are based on the assumption that almost anyone in the world can be linked to anyone else in the world by six or seven degrees). How can you tell?

Simple. By looking at movies that actors and actresses have in common, you can link them to Kevin Bacon. For example, Jack Nicholson was in "A Few Good Men" with Kevin Bacon. Michelle Pfeiffer was in "Wolf" (or "The Witches of Eastwick") with Jack Nicholson, who was in "A Few Good Men" with Kevin Bacon. And so on. The number of intervening movies is that actor or actresses' Bacon Number or degree number. Thus, in this example, Nicholson would have a Bacon Number of 1 and Michelle Pfeiffer a Bacon Number of 2.

Here is another example:

Bela Lugosi, has a Bacon number of 3:

1. Bela Lugosi was in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) with Vincent Price

2. Vincent Price was in The Raven (1963) with Jack Nicholson

3. Jack Nicholson was in A Few Good Men (1992) with Kevin Bacon

These guys could link any actor to Kevin Bacon with this method.

What are your 6 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon?
I wish I knew...

I met George Romero at a comic convention 2 years ago.....

Ed Harris was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon.

3 degrees. What do I win??
Reply:I once served as John Glenn's Bodyguard.

Ed Harris played John Glenn in "The Right Stuff".

Ed Harris and Kevin Bacon were in "Apollo 13".

My separation factor is 3.

Joan Crawford was in Journey to Murder (1971) with Roddy McDowall, who was in Big Picture, The (1989) with Kevin Bacon
Reply:we both live on the same planet (suposedly).
Reply:I worked with Kristin Kreuk at a photo shoot for Smallville.

Kristin Kreuk was in "Partition" with Neve Campbell.

Neve Campbell was in "Wild Things" with Kevin Bacon.
Reply:It means that Kevin Bacon has done movies with just about everyone.. if you say any actors name they have been in a movie with someone who's been in amovie with someone and when you get to six that person has been in a movie with Kevin Bacon. You can never get to seven cuz he's done so many movies with so many people. So everyone has 6 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. Works for TV shows. (Will and Grace)
Reply:I have a friend named Shane Helms who was the stunt double of David Arquette in Ready to Rumble, David was in Beautiful Girls with Matt Dillon and Matt was in Loverboy with Kevin Bacon. lol
Reply:i watched a movie, it had kevin backon in it, i watched 6 people in that movie they all knew kevin bacon. so i stopped watching a movie

Rob Zombie - Director of Photography Tom Richmond, who shot "Night Of A Thousand Corpses," also shot "Homage."

Bill Shatner - I worked with Jimmy Doohan on a technical video, and well, he worked with Shatner on Star Trek.

Sean Connery - I worked with Harrison Ford for a week on a project, and he worked with Sean Connery on Indiana Jones 3.

Terry Bradshaw - I know his manager, David Gershenson.

Adam Sandler - I took a leak in a urinal next to Rob Schneider one time in a men's room of a theater in L.A. at a Red Cross function to raise money for Sept. 11, and he worked with Sandler on Big Daddy.

Arnold Schwartznegger - this one is slightly longer. Writer/director Mark Medoff co/wrote with me and directed a short film a couple of summers ago, and he directed Tom Arnold in Children On Their Birthdays. Arnold worked with Schwartznegger on True Lies.

I could go on all night here, and the combinations are endless. Is this kind of what you were looking for?

Sometimes college admissions officers use Facebook or Myspace to check out prospective students, does anyone know someone this has happened to?

Does anyone know of a student who was rejected from college b/c of their myspace, facebook or blog site??
No, I don't, but people using these sites tend to forget that it IS a public forum that anyone can access. I have not heard of colleges doing this, but I do know that a lot of companies check facebook and other sites when considering potential employees.
Reply:No, and I have never heard of that before either.
Reply:no, but at my school we can get written up if an administrator finds drunk pictures of you of facebook...so don't let your friends tag you!

Has anyone been rejected from college because of their myspace, facebook or blog site??

I'm doing research on the subject. Sometimes college admissions officers use Facebook or Myspace to check out prospective students, has this happened to anyone you know?

Has anyone been rejected from college because of their myspace, facebook or blog site??
No they don't. That is a myth that people have created that obviously hate Myspace. There is no written requirement that says you cannot have a Myspace or Facebook account. Any speculation on that would probably concern cheating, %26amp; if there was other probable causes to search someone's account for signs of plagiarism, cheating, etc. that may be reasonable, but as far as admissions, it's against the law to deny someone based on that.
Reply:I don't know about college, but as an employer, I will tell you that I do google potential staff. Comments about how someone hates their job, foul language throughout the site, drug/alcohol references throughout, excessive partying, that type of thing, all impact on my desicion to hire or not to hire.

Fair? Sure - you put the info out there and I know how to find it.

Legal? Sure - it's in the public eye. There's no law (sorry betwixt) that prevents me from looking at internet info as a reference check. If you published a book or had a story about you in a newspaper or magazine, I'd be able to see that and it might affect my decision.
Reply:Not for college students. I mean, why would they care, really? They get your money. It is your decision how you live your private life--like, you want to goof off and get drunk. Fine. Just as long as you pay the wasted tuition, then you're good. But, as for job wise...I don't know. I think it's fair to an extent. If you don't want people reading what you write, then just make it private. Then no one can see it unless they add you.
Reply:Someone at my college lost a potential job due to their online profile at Facebook, saying that they drink every night and go to work drunk.

Does the 6 degrees of separation really work?

Yes. Here are 2 examples...

My best girlfriend dated a guy who's sister dated Lyle Lovett. That's 4 degrees.

My best guy friend played on an album along with John Evans, Tori Amos' bassist. That's three degrees.

Does the 6 degrees of separation really work?
Channel 4 (or 5?) made a programme about this a couple of years ago. A young English woman was sent to connect with a Mongolian shepherd and she managed to do it in 7 moves - only failing to make it in 6 because the shepherd was out on the plains when she arrived in his village. It was very absorbing and a fascinating study. An American university researcher also tried to do it on the internet about 6 years ago - people were invited to volunteer to reach a person selected by the researcher - interesting to know what the outcome was.

Personally, my aunt's first husband's granddaughter married an equerry of Princess Diana, so thats about 5 steps from the Queen, I guess.

Guy From College Found Me On Facebook?

I go to this huge college, along with 5 or 6 of my friends. I was at home for vacation, and I got a facebook message from a guy that goes to college:

hey you are the most drop dead gorgeous girl ive ever seen. would you like to hang out sometime and get to know me???! plz...i really would love to get to know u

I was flattered, but I didn't think this guy was well.. more than a desperate loser, so I declined.. he keeped messaging me, and kept begging me to come see him. I talked to one of my friends about it, and he was bothering her recently too (following her around campus, begging her to go out with him).

anyways, he won't leave me alone.. I told him we could be friends, and thats about it.. but he keeps basically ignoring anything I have to say... and he keeps insisting he's not a player and I should trust him and theres no reason why i shouldn't trust him.

He keeps trying to get me to go to dinner with him off campus, but I don't trust him. He keeps begging and begging and declaring his love for me, and he keeps calling me a bunch of cutsie pet names.

He's an exchange student from a foreign country and he's being very awkward.. what should I do?

Guy From College Found Me On Facebook?
Well, sounds wierd. NEVER go off campus with him. Even after(if) you get to know him better. I would say that if you have a guy friend that's not currently going out with anyone, ask him to hang out with you a little more in hopes that this other guy will leave you alone. It's possible that it's a cultural thing to try to be overly friendly with people but it's highly unlikely that that is his reason. I'd assume he has social problems and is looking for acceptance from anyone. Maybe there has a been a major trauma (sp?) in his life and this is his way of dealing with it. If you have school counselors, I'd ask one of them to talk with him about it. This is definitely a form of stalking so watch your back and be careful!
Reply:Go out with him in a group, don't go alone he sounds a little creepy but in order for him to stop bugging you mabey you should go with him only bring some of your other friends and probably a guy or two wouldn't hurt either.
Reply:just tell him you gay, or shoot with a little .25 cal hand gun won't hurt to much sure will hurt a hell of a lot, or get a freind a big guy and pretend your dating pick a guy you like to go along with it and you never know
Reply:Well, I don't think you should just declare some guy you don't even know a "loser." That aside, just be straight-forward and tell him to buzz off. Telling some guys that you're "willing to be friends" will only lead them on with the hope of a relationship developing.
Reply:sounds like a stalker to me. watch yourself.

Facebook college networks?

I would like to join the networks of the colleges i attended.

The whole "school email adress" thing was not present while i went there, meaning I do not have an email adress. And when I browse through the network I can't find anyone in there who graduated the same year as me or earlier.

Is there any other way to to join a school network?

Facebook college networks?
No. You must have a school e-mail address to join that college network. It's to protect the privacy of the people at the colleges similar to how difficult it is to change and get into a new high school's network.

Are there other people in that college's network? I mean, it appears that there aren't because you've looked around to try to ask.

What is the largest college network on Facebook?

The biggest I've seen is Ohio State with over 70,000 and Arizona State with almost 70,000 [like 69,600 something] and U of Florida also has about 69,000. Those are the 3 largest colleges in the US but are there any other networks bigger than these 3 on Facebook (including alums not just current students)?

i think the Ohio State is the biggest one on there

i think i heard somewhere that the largest region group is Toronto with like 800,000+ on there

How do i get facebook if my college does not offer it?

i attend a community college and they do not offer facebook i was wondering if there was any other way i can get it

How do i get facebook if my college does not offer it?
Petition for it at your school. There's a link to make a request on Facebook's help page (http://www.facebook.com/help.php). My school just got it a little over a year ago. Someone started a petition and got the Student Government Association involved. We got it within 2 months.

Facebook doesn't have the power to just add whatever school(s) they want, your school has to contact them and accept I think. Or else they would have just added every school in the country.

Good luck!
Reply:Email them and ask them to:

http://www.facebook.com/help.php?tab=new...
Reply:Well firstly you can request it on facebook. Follow the procedure on the site which is to send them an email from your school email etc. Otherwise, you can try to get an invite for a H.S account which is pretty whack. Try to have your school added.
Reply:You could contact Facebook and ask them to add your college but right now you're out of luck.

But last year I partied with the band members of Live.

The year before that I spent some time with the Black Eyed Peas.

I live in South Africa and I know people that know people.
Reply:Allen Iverson was in my highschool class (haven't spoken to him since before he was drafted though)

Used to beat Aaron Brooks (NFL) in the triple jump (also high school) Mike Vick is his cousin. I watched him play when he was in 8th grade, but I didn't know him.

I know a few people that will probably be famous soon.

6 degrees of separation?

It seems like a very interesting theory but I don't really understand it too much. Can someone please explain it to me?

6 degrees of separation?
never heard of it.. but it does sound interesting already %26amp; I'm going to look it up %26amp; tell you if I can :)

_____

well I guess it's something like this:

the theory suggests that if a person is a step away from someone they know and 2 steps away from one of the people that the person they know, know--I bet that was confusing :)

'Kay, let's say I have a friend named Jack, and Jack has a friend named Alan. If I'm a step away from Jack and 2 steps away from Alan, then on average everyone is around six "steps" away from each person on Earth.

Refer to this "diagram":

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...

look up on wikipedia or google it for further information, 'cause I'm done for today

Thanks for the enlightenment though :p

I thought it was a school networking forum.... seems like everyone is getting facebook along w/ myspace. Do you think ppl who dont go to college should have facebook?

If you didn't go to college should you have a facebook?
I think it is kind of annoying that they opened it up to the public actually

it should have remained college students only

Reply:Well that's rather elitist thinking, isn't it?

Why be a b**ch?
Reply:NO! If you don't go to college, you should not have facebook. That's what it's original intent was, to network college students, and now look at what it's turned into! It's just another Myspace with all of it's applications and creeps and ****. :(
Reply:Actually , face book helps every body to find you . if you go to university it would help your classmate for finding you .

Do you believe we are all connected by at least 6 degrees of separation?

Example:

me --%26gt;

1. my mom

2. her friend

3. her friend's son

4. her friend's son's bestfriend (who is Gloria Arroyo's son)

5. Gloria Arroyo (Philippine President)

6. George W. Bush

Do you believe we are all connected by at least 6 degrees of separation?
No. Not everyone can boast to be so close to political power.
Reply:It depends on who you mean by "we."

If you mean everyone in America, then I wouldn't be surprised at all if the answer was yes.

If you mean everyone in the world, then I most certainly do not. There are some groups of people living today who have NO contact with anyone outside their own tribe/group.
Reply:Well you could probably skip your mom's friend. Doesn't your mom also know her son. For that matter you may also, which would give me a couple of people to work with to connect to the President. (or skip your mom, and her friend's son; do you know her, and does she know Arroyo?)

I would need at least two to get to the President since I do not know him personally.

So I think it could be done.

I do know Andrew Natsios who holds an appointed position and therefore knows Bush.
Reply:I wouldn't call someone I konw who may have spoken, shaken the hand of etc another person a connection. So, no I do not go with the 6 degrees argument.
Reply:No. But if you can find a connection with me...then I will Believe!
Reply:yea just think of all the people you know and all of the people that they might know
Reply:i guess it's possble but i dont believe that in every case it happens. for example i'm pretty ant social so i doubt that anyof the little amount of people i know will have connections to everyone else in the world.
Reply:I have read that it is now 5 people the Internet and jet travel have made it more connected

I have Facebook, I signed up with my Hotmail account. But I want to join my college network, and my school doesn't give out emails. Any ideas?

Is there a way to join a college network on Facebook without a school email?
No, you have to have a valid school email account to join a college network. They do this so that people that don't even go to a certain college join the network.

=)

What do you think about the 6 degrees of separation theory?

where you are connected to everybody in the world by 6 people or less.

What do you think about the 6 degrees of separation theory?
It's just a theory. But it's a cool one. It points out how we are all connected and what a small world it really is.

It's feasible too and I've tried it just for fun when I'm bored and it works for me. It depends on how old you are and how many people you know.

I've done the 6 degree countdown with different people and often I can find it in only 3 or 4 degrees. Now, that's probably because I've worked for years in fields where I've come into contact with so many people. But, it does work :)
Reply:It doesn't work.

C. :)!!
Reply:The first time I heard of that (way before the TV show came out) it was that everyone in the world is six degrees or less from Kevin Bacon, therefore Kevin Bacon is the center of the universe. Now, I don't live in Hollywood and have no contacts with the entertainment industry, and yet I am 2 degrees from Kevin Bacon. So yes, Keven Bacon IS the center of the universe. %26lt;G%26gt;
Reply:Interesting concept, but I don't think it has been proven to be true.... more of a possibility than a probability.
Reply:I believe it is VERY feasible.

I want to enroll into a college network on facebook and I have the email address?

So, if I confirm my new email address on facebook, would I automatically join my college network or does someone have to invite me?

You automatically join the network after you confirm the email.

Ok..6 degrees of separation? Can you site an example when this theory would fail?

We have (in theory) established that any person on Earth can get to any other person through 6 friends. Give me an example when this would be impossible. It would not work!

Ok..6 degrees of separation? Can you site an example when this theory would fail?
Given that part of network theory focuses on network density, there is what they refer to as critical mass, which I guess we have beat many times over to acheive the redundancy to reach anyone in 6 or less moves.

So, we need to find isolated individuals, who have been that way their whole life. Maybe a feral child, raised by wolves wouldn't be connectable. So might be a Saskwatch if you could loosely call them a person. What if Saskwatch were highly territorial, to the point of all males never communicated directly together, and the females were only mobile within a certain area but were the carriers of information between the pairs. In that case, there would be enough holes in the network to prevent one of us to be within six degrees should someone actually verify the existance of such a creature and befriend them; if there territory was long enough to require three or four contacts to get to the most remote member.

This might actually work for a very large commune should it have rules of contact between individuals to minimize what is referred to as network density so that some networks are either isolated, or distantly connected to another.

Thinking about it, odds are that somewhere there is a group of people that contain folks that are removed from many of us by more than six degrees.
Reply:first i'd like to say if u don't have 6 friends to wrk wid....or the person u try to contact is not around or u are confused on who to contact......and if u put tyme into meditating then u can reach someone w/o others.....
Reply:I don't know but my inclination would be a hermit somewhere, but the link to the next degree doesn't have to be very strong so it could be I am linked to someone who once went on a camping trip to the same forest the hermit lives in or something.

So I can't think of one off the top of my head. Sorry.

I am trying to join a college network on Facebook, how do i do it?

My friend told me that there are many people on Facebook who are looking for a college roommate and if i want to find a roommate, join the college network on Facebook. She told me that many people are joining the network, but i dont know how, especially since i dont have a college id, but other people i know are still in the college network, without a college id. Can somebody help me?

I am trying to join a college network on Facebook, how do i do it?
i would request to be their friends to join their network. or in your profile editing settings change your school to your college.
Reply:ive seen high school students on there too but i dont know how the got on 2 facebook. im on facebook but i got on there thru my college e-mail
Reply:You have to provide your personal college email address to join a college network. If you don't have one (aka, some community colleges), then I believe your're out of luck.

When I signed up for mine, they sent an e-mail to my school account. In the e-mail there was a link, and when I clicked on it, I was verified. Try your school account.

Good luck, and have fun! :)

What do you college students think of Facebook opening up to everyone?

Now they tell us that Facebook is going to try and open up to everybody. It used to be that just College students could use the network, then they allowed high schooler, then businesses and corporations. Are they trying to lose the very people who made Facebook so popular in the first place? I think this is horrible timing, considering they just saw a massive protest against the creepy stalker-esque "mini-feed" update they did earlier this month.

Keep Facebook for College students.

What do you college students think of Facebook opening up to everyone?
I HATE IT LIKE WOW!

i wrote so many letters of protest. i liked it when it was just my fellow college students, now my boss wants to set up a face book page and im like ewww dont. the whole feeds ticked me off. i didnt care that susie dumped brad for his twin brother jorje

6 degrees of separation? Your brushes with celebrity?

1. I went to high school with Moira Kelly's little brother. (2 degrees)

2. I went to high school with jazz singer Jane Monheit.

3. My husband and I attended a dinner party with Rupert Hokmes (The Pina Colada Song singer)

4. I shook hands with Chuck Negron (from 3 dog night) and Spike Lee (not at the same time - haha)

I think there are a couple more, but they escape me at the moment.

Will I be weird if I go to college and do not use facebook anymore?

I used it for about a week and do not use it anymore. I used myspace for a while but stopped logging in. Does everybody in college use facebook and will I have to start logging back on to prevent from being an outcast?

Will I be weird if I go to college and do not use facebook anymore?
If you don't want to use Facebook or Myspace then don't use it. Just because you are going to be attending college soon does not make you obligated to have or use an account. There are many people out there who don't use any of the two. I'm don't think that you will be ostracized and sent into exile just because you no longer sign in. College life does not revolve around social networking sites so there's no need to overreact
Reply:Just don't worry about it. There are sooooooooo many people out there who don't use Facebook/MySpace/Anything in college. Some dislike the entire idea of social networking websites. Just don't worry about it and go have fun in college instead of sitting on the computer like all the other students are doing. :)

If information is so easy to find under the 6 degrees of separation rule. Why does Bush & his CIA screw it up?

With the 6 degrees rule you could have someone in Baghdad on the phone in a couple minutes.

Or even BinLaden

If information is so easy to find under the 6 degrees of separation rule. Why does Bush %26amp; his CIA screw it up?
the CIA didn't screw up anything. Bush manipulated the information.
Reply:Because in order for the rule to have any practical application in the real world, you'd need to contact basically every person alive, and even then you wouldn't include people who have shut down open two-way communication with non-terrorists (such as bin Laden).

The "6 degrees" idea doesn't actually have much of a purpose except to indicate that there is always some connection between person/thing A and person/thing B. It doens't actually get you any closer to either person than you already were to begin with. An equivalent quesiton might go: If every page on the web is linked by 6 pages to every other (the actual figure happens to be more like 11), why can't the internet do all my research for me? It's kind of begging the question.

Of course, American intelligence can certainly speak to any top Iraqi official at any time, but that doesn't mean it can talk to any person any time.

Does that help? I'll edit my answer if it doesn't.
Reply:Under Bush/Cheney it is the six degrees of misinformation rule. They plan of deliberately skewing at critical points so you come out at the wrong place every time. We go from Osama to Saddam and now the leader of Iran, each time the bullseye shifting while the reason stays the same. It is all part of the big lie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lie

As far as I can tell, the CIA didn't screw up, it was Bush/Cheney twisting the info to fit their agenda. They even went after the CIA, and that could have been one of their fatal mistakes that is now coming back to haunt them. I doubt the CIA will let that one go until someone pays.
Reply:Because like Bush said..."You can fool some of the people all the time, those are the ones we are concentrating on."
Reply:Same reason Clinton %26amp; HIS CIA screwed up. It aint that easy.

Reply:well, if a guy from my class added me on facebook, i certainly wouldn't mind. there's nothing weird about it. it's just facebook after all.
Reply:If she has told you her name, it's okay. If you found out her name some other way, don't do it yet. But it seems like Facebook would be a good way to strike up a friendship.
Reply:Questions like this crack me up. You are in college which means you are an adult in years but this question makes me think you are about 12. This is 7th grade caliber ****. How about this. Get the balls to just ask her if she'd like to get together some time. How pathetic to add her to facebook in some weird attempt to court her.

Or go ahead and take your non assertive approach while someone with some confidence asks her out before you grow the pubic hair to do it. I may be blunt but come on man. Women like assertive men.

Think of it this way. You are already talking in person and you have a class together why would you need to add her to facebook to ask her out? What this is all about is you are too insecure to ask her out and would use her adding to you on facebook as a sign she likes you. She's talking to you already that means she is interested in you. I'm sure you won't take my advice as I am quite blunt. You'll probably listen to one of the other 19 year old 12 year olds on here.

Reply:go ahead if she doesnt what to talk she will block you then you have your answer, but give it a shot, if she is a nice girl it would be fine. you could also say if she asks that you didnt know that you added her, must have pushed the wrong botton
Reply:You're right. She has the choice to accept you or not on Facebook. So, give it a try as this is a good way to start communication. Good luck.
Reply:I would definitely add her.She can ignore your request if she wants anyway but she will probably accept and then it will be an easier way for you to say hi all the time and build up a friendship.
Reply:Add her it shouldn't be a big deal. Doesn't mean there's anything romantic associated with facebook lol
Reply:Yeah, go right ahead. And at least you know if she declines the request of where you stand with her.
Reply:say hi and ask her for date if she is your clas mate..don't wast time.. go ahed

1963 Communist Goals

The following was entered into the Congressional record by Albert Herlong, Jr. (a Floridian who served in Congress from 1949-69) in 1963.

1) US acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war

2) US willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war

3) Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the US would be a demonstration of "moral strength"

4) Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5) Extension of long term loans to Russia and Soviet Satellites

6) Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination

7) Grant recognition of Red China, and admission of Red China to the UN.

8) Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the Germany question by free elections under supervision of the UN

9) Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the US has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress

10) Allow all Soviet Satellites individual representation in the UN

11) Promote the UN as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the UN as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo)

12) Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party

13) Do away with loyalty oaths

14) Continue giving Russia access to the US Patent Office

15) Capture one or both of the political parties in the US

16) Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17) Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism, and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in text books.

18) Gain control of all student newspapers

19) Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20) Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

21) Gain control of key positions in radio, TV %26amp; motion pictures.

22) Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings", substitute shapeless, awkward, and meaningless forms.

23) Control art critics and directors of art museums. " Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art".

24) Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25) Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography, and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.

26) Present Homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as "normal, natural, and healthy".

27) Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch"

28) Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state"

29) Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30) Discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man".

31) Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture:" Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32) Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture - - education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33) Eliminate all laws or procedures, which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34) Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35) Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI

36) Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37) Infiltrate and gain control of big business

38) Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.

39) Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40) Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41) Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42) Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special interest groups should rise up and make a "united force" to solve economic, political, or social problems.

43) Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44) Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45) Repeal the Connally Reservation so the US can not prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

Sure, as long as you've had an exchange of a question or two. At least she'll know who you are.

Just add her, and write a little note like, "Hi. it's nice to see you on here too". Then in class, you might mention it casually too. CASUALLY, though. Dont make it sounds creepy/stalkery.
Reply:i would not be freaked out at all if i was her. i would say, go ahead.
Reply:OH MAN, what a serious step! It's like proposing. She'd freak out, might get a restraining order, maybe an assault case against you.

... Invite her, it's a social website, you're supposed to do that.
Reply:just add her. it wouldn't be that weird, you do know her. plus people do that all the time.
Reply:Just add her! I am sure she will add you!
Reply:Absolutely- add her! Facebook is exactly for that and seeing as you two are already friends, of course she'll accept!
Reply:Add her as a friend, I don't see why she wouldn't accept it! I quit facebook like 2 years ago so I don't remember the details but if she accepts you maybe then you can see her profile and know if she has a bf?

Once she accepts you as a friend I would ask her if she'd like to get some coffee after class and keep it casual, that way she doesn't feel uncomfortable about a date and still gets to talk and get to know you. Depending on how that goes you can take it from there....

Good Luck!

Is yahoo the 6 degrees of separation?

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one "step" away from each person he or she knows and two "steps" away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is no more than six "steps" away from each person on Earth.

Is yahoo the 6 degrees of separation?

you have to join your high school's network. you may already have it in your education but you need to search for the network and join that one as well.

I'll try again. Ok..6 degrees of separation? Can you site an example when this theory would fail?

We have (in theory) established that any person on Earth can get to any other person through 6 friends. Give me an example when this would be impossible. Who might I not get to through 6 degrees of separation. In essence in this case the theory could not work (an exception if you like)!

How do I sign up for facebook-college email needed??

Im a freshmen in college...when i tried to sign up for facebook it asks for my college email adress..my own personal email didnt work..My college has a website but i dont know of an email for the school..can anyone help..I go to kingsborough community college

How do I sign up for facebook-college email needed??
If you want to be in your college's network you will have to have an email address from your school. If your school doesn't offer email addresses you can use any email address to sign up for a regional network. If for some reason your personal email won't work try contacting facebook and let them know of your problem. Hope this helps.
Reply:You can sign up for Facebook without a college e-mail address. The college e-mail address will simply allow you to join a network for your school. The advantage of being part of a network is that you will be able to see pages of other people on your network who will allow you to see your pages, where if you don't have any network you can only see friends' pages. You might want to check first if there is a network for your school. If there is, you should be able to get an e-mail address from your college. This will be different for every school, but you can hopefully find out about it by learning about computing resources for students. Try clicking around on the home page for your school. As the previous answerer mentioned, even if you can't join a college network you can probably join a network for the local geographical area where you live and possibly for your employer.

How does the 6 degrees of separation principle work?

Someplace there is a theory that everyone is connected with everyone else in the world through 6 degrees of separation? I'm not too sure about this. How does this theory work?

How does the 6 degrees of separation principle work?
Well - for the purpose of answering your question, I will use the most popular person to link to (Kevin Bacon).

Kevin Bacon just so happens to be one of the most popular because of his intense resume (six degrees of Kevin Bacon actually started as a college drinking game).

So now - I will link YOU to Kevin Bacon within six degrees...

YOU (1) asked a question that I (2) answered. I worked at a strip club many years ago and met PAULY SHORE (3) who was in Pauly Shore is Dead with SHERRI SHEAPARD (4) who was in Beauty Shop with KEVIN BACON (5).

This is just the idea behind it, but it is not correct that everyone can be linked. There are actually two hollywood stars that cannot be linked to Kevin Bacon which ends the theroy that everyone can be linked to everyone.

I hope this helped you understand the theory though.

Reply:Terri Nicolotzzi from Minneapolis

Chrisie " LaLa" Banner from St Paul

Hi Tony from the UK from Kat in AZ.
Reply:Actually, your test only goes through two degrees of separation, not six -- if we both know someone in common but don't know each other, that's only two jumps. Six degrees would be something like... you know a guy who worked with someone for about twenty years whose father went to school with the current mayor of Seattle, whose son was in the Boy Scouts with a friend of mine who I knew in high school. This'll be kind of hard to test out here, but good luck.

How do I get a college facebook profile?

I have a high school facebook profile and I don't know how or if I can transfer that account info over to a college account.

How do I get a college facebook profile?
You have to have your college email address, and your college has to be registered on Facebook.

If you're not in college, there is no way you can do it.
Reply:i think all you can do is create a new profile. with ur college email address.
Reply:your school gives it to you.
