the CIA didn't screw up anything. Bush manipulated the information.
Reply:Because in order for the rule to have any practical application in the real world, you'd need to contact basically every person alive, and even then you wouldn't include people who have shut down open two-way communication with non-terrorists (such as bin Laden).





The "6 degrees" idea doesn't actually have much of a purpose except to indicate that there is always some connection between person/thing A and person/thing B. It doens't actually get you any closer to either person than you already were to begin with. An equivalent quesiton might go: If every page on the web is linked by 6 pages to every other (the actual figure happens to be more like 11), why can't the internet do all my research for me? It's kind of begging the question.





Of course, American intelligence can certainly speak to any top Iraqi official at any time, but that doesn't mean it can talk to any person any time.

As far as I can tell, the CIA didn't screw up, it was Bush/Cheney twisting the info to fit their agenda. They even went after the CIA, and that could have been one of their fatal mistakes that is now coming back to haunt them. I doubt the CIA will let that one go until someone pays.
